Our sweet days of warm sunshine blew away. I decided to go for a little property walk this morning. I took Moxe pup with me. We have fencing all around the outside of our property so she is safe to run and play. I also brought a little piece of cheese. That smelly piece of yum! kept Moxe with me. I looked at gardens and every so often told Moxe to sit. She sat. A bit of cheese popped into her greedy mouth. We looked at greening raspberries together. I lured Moxe into sitting by my left side and told her Good Girl!! She didn't know she was in the sitting heel position. Habit and play time. Moxe is a sweet natured pup. Cheese bits will win the day. All off leash. She is learning to focus on me and that will further her progress on heeling- walking nicely on leash, not pulling me. Very much a safety issue for me. Fun and games as she learns. This afternoon Moxe won't like it but hubby and I are going to eat an early supper at a local restaurant then get him to a church meeting. Moxe will be busy inside her kennel with a chunk of hot dog and Rufus outside her kennel. while we are gone.

I wish I could do that with Roscoe but whenever he sees something interesting like a strange dog out front or the new neighbor dog or a visiting kitty he loses all interest in treats no matter what. He just loves opportunities to run, chase and bark.

I think Roscoe does to a small percentage but mostly he just wants to have fun. He is getting better about coming when I call provided the new pup next door isn't outside or his shitzu buddy isn't around and heaven forbid the man working on his fence isn't outside .... he barks for hours. I've been keeping him on a 50' line when we go outside.

@rebelann That's a good idea to have him on a line.

@rebelann Rufus is like that, too. Distractions! He is quite the macho man when it comes to defending his territory. He defends with a very loud voice.

@wolfgirl569 Thanks. I love talking with dogs; seeing if we can communicate. I'm feeding Moxe two to three cups of food a day right now due to her being so ribby. In a couple of weeks I will slow down on the food but for now she begs for chow when noon hits.

@wolfgirl569 Rufus is starting to get a middle aged paunch. He only eats when he has a treat in the food- I wonder who started that??

Moxe sounds like a very good dog. She's not a barker, is she? Have a good weekend.
