I finally tried birria - roasted and shredded beef

I have been seeing more and more about birria all over. Ads, articles, food posts, etc. Then I saw a YouTube video that showed birria tacos fried on each side and served with the broth the meat created while cooking. I KNEW right then, I had to try them. I got the chance on Wednesday. My friend and I went to a Mexican restaurant south of us on the old road to Atlantic City. Beautiful restaurant inside. Really nice people. Spotless. Looking over the menu, I saw they had quesabirria tacos. I knew queso was cheese and birria was the shredded meat. The server confirmed that was just what it was, so that's what I ordered. I was VERY pleased. I did need to add salt as they had very little in their broth or meat (better for anybody, but I wanted more flavor), but I was in heaven. I ended up bringing home one of the tacos along with the beans and some rice. That's what I had for breakfast yesterday. The photo is of the actual dish placed in front of me with the little cup of broth. Doesn't it look delicious!!

It looks like "empanada" in my country. If it is the same thing, I would like to have some.

in my country it is similar to "pastel" but the way it is cooked is fried here.

It's a corn tortilla folded in half around the meat and cheese and then fried. It's similar but it's not sealed dough. I was able to open it to add salt. Empanadas are usually made with a flour dough. But you could do the same thing by using the broth from the cooked meat to dip the with in.

It looks good. I like how it looks. I'm sure you enjoyed it. I can tell by the way you described it. I had instant noodles for breakfast.

It did look really good. That's always a plus, but even better when the taste matches the look.

Generally in my country as filling we use carrots, potatoes, vermicelli and eggs.
