A student of mine wears the most obnoxious maple lotion or perfume

Don't even get me started on her entirely inappropriate dress. She makes Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman look like a nun. Administration refuses to do anything about it, though, so I don't say anything any longer. The maple smell though. . . The building principal brought it to my attention a couple of months ago. I don't have the best sense of smell so I knew that there was something going on in my classroom but I couldn't have described it specifically. Well yesterday she returned from the bathroom during lunch (I'm on duty) REEKING of it. I have her the very next period and it stunk up the entire classroom. I would rather have smelled one of @porwest's slop casseroles. I called her up to my lab table and asked her not to ever drench herself in that stuff before my class ever again. She asked why and I just straight up told her "it is disgusting". She said "well at least you are honest". I told her that I physically felt sick. Today she was going to the bathroom during lunch and I reminded her to NOT use that stuff. The principal kind of piled on and asked "do you think that smells good?" She said yes and the both of us were like NO. After she left the principal said he can literally track her through the building just based on the scent. Then he said we were both going to be in trouble tomorrow. I don't care. You don't get to pollute my classroom with some nasty-a$$ scent that makes me feel sick.

As someone who suffers from scent sensitivity I really dislike anyone wearing strongly scented anything. At one time there were a couple of department stores I couldn’t enter because of their overwhelming perfume counters. I literally could not breathe. I was gasping for air.

I had a developmentally delayed student in one of my college classes. He did not bathe or shower and stunk up the entire classroom. I am white and male and know my place. I did not dare say anything about it.

That's different. She is constantly putting whatever the scent is on and it is awful.

People don't always realize how strong something is until someone else points it out.

You are doing the right thing by standing your ground since students need to be respectful with teachers.

People get immune to the smell of their own scent and then think they need more to smell better. I almost never use scent any more.

Good lord. Who wants to attract attention in that manner? The first time someone told me it was ratchet I would have given it up.

That is disgusting I know what you mean. When I worked in retail some people smelled so bad I back up away from them. It made me feel sick.

I would end up coughing and having a headache. I can't tolerate anything strong-smelling.

I keep saying I am going to ask someone what they are wearing when I smell it, but all I can do is cough and hold my nose. No idea what I am even smelling, but it is similar to Axe Cologne. I KNOW that stuff takes my breath away, and not in a GOOD way. People just wear too much of their scents. And there are Some scents that once the person touches something, the scent transfers to what they touch. Went into a Chevron one day...the lady had that perfume on, I hurried and got out of there..when I got back to the van, the money she gave me smelled like her...2 days later those dollar bills STILL smelled like her, and once I got rid of the money, my billfold still had a faint smell of her perfume almost a week later.
