Today is not my day.

The morning started off alright. I got the clothes washed. Went to put them in the dryer, only to have it stop as soon as I let go of the start button. It heats up but the drum isn't turning. So, here I am pricing washer and dryer pairs online. I'd much rather be at best buy, looking at them But, I doubt I'd get George to go with me. On top of that, I'll have to figure out a way to get our van out of the garage to get the washer and dryer in.... yep.

How fun for you. You're going to be able to write a book when all is said and done.

Oh, dear, I am sorry. I hate it when appliances die. And right now, I know you need a washer and dryer to be working. I hope you can work it out somehow. The darn things are so pricey now, a person could almost buy a car with the money, it's ridiculous. It does sound like the belt is snapped to the drum and is fixable, but that is just said from my own experience in the past, not from big knowledge about fixing dryers. The only thing I have fixed on a dryer is to put in a new heating element, and that was way easier than I thought it would be.

I know the belt is broken, I can hear where it snapped if I hold the start button long enough. If it was JUST the drum, I wouldn't care. It would just mean a couple more cycles. But.... it's the start button, too. It stopps if I let go. And, just because it IS fixable, doesn't mean I can afford to fix it. Well, I probably could, but since the warenty has run out. Not only would I have to pay for the parts, they really get you in labor. And, I still have to get the van moved. Because the placment of the washer and dryer is insane.

@kaylachan It is often so expensive to repair something, it's cheaper to replace it, I know. Labor costs are wild. If you were to get it at Lowe's or someplace like that, won't they come and deliver and install it? I'm not sure how that works, but I know my neighbor did that a few years ago during the beginning of the pandemic. I hope you can find one that isn't an arm and a leg.

@MarieCoyle I've been getting ideas about prices off of Best Buy and Home Depot. Most places will deliver and install for a fee. Although hocking up either isn't THAT hard. For a washer, it's just plugging it in and checking the hoses for leaks. Making sure to connect hot cold and drain lines. Dryer, plug it in, attach the vent hose, easy. I'll still need to get my neighbor to jump our van and move it, because we need it out of the way for the new washer and dryer.

@RebeccasFarm Yeah. well, it's working out for you that you can do that. Me, I kind of... could but where would I find the space? as it is, stuff is scattered around my house.

@kaylachan I always have a drying rack here..its steel and biggish. I have to though as I use the complex's laundry and you never know if anything is going to work there. Otherwise I have to walk them to the laundromat miles away.

@Deepizzaguy I had to do the same, too. My laundry is litterally scattered around the garage and the house.

@kaylachan It harms me as well since I would have to place clothes to be dried inside of the home.

I had to buy a new washer a few months ago. I bought it on the Conn's website. They delivered it. I may have to get a dryer before too long.

I hate it when the appliances die all of a sudden. It happened with our water filter last year, but glad that it could be repaired and is still running good. Hope you get a good budget friendly offer there.

I'm sorry you have to replace your washer and dryer. Our washer, after 20 years, is making strange noises. May have to replace it soon.
