Bed Rotting

My bed ain't about to fall apart. So much so for all those slang words turned dictionary entries. Yup, its a noun, defined by Dictionary.com as "the practice of spending many hours in bed during the day, often with snacks or an electronic device, as a voluntary retreat from activity or stress." In short, a much needed break from the world and can be a form of self-care for some. Been there and done that! At some point in time, it has become a once in a while guilty pleasure for me. Sinking into my sheets, letting time slip away as I scroll through my devices, munching on snacks without a care in the world - a retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. There's nothing wrong with a good bed rot now and then - its like a recharge and reset. But I'd like to emphasize that bed rotting too often on prolonged periods of time is a different story. Why do we feel the need to retreat from the world for hours on end? It could mean something's troubling you or worst can be a sign of mental illness. If bed rotting has become a habit and coping mechanism, maybe its time to take a closer look at what's really going on beneath the covers.

I do not do this..when I was young and we had no devices..I was working hard and might take a long few hours in a day maybe once every couple months to rot in bed
These days, I am so poor, my bed is so uncomfortable, I could never.
Yes it is not good for long periods.

Yeah, rotting in an uncomfortable bed just doesn’t sound relaxing at all it might just add to my stress hahaha... Anyway, gone are my younger days when I would just rot in bed, now I can’t even tolerate not moving for hours. It doesn’t feel right for my body anymore.

Haha Spills can indeed definitely put a damper on the whole bed-rotting vibe. And I totally get needing a serious reason to stay in bed all day.

@pitsipeahie Bed is for sleeping, I like to read in bed before sleeping, but not during the day.

Totally get where you're coming from! Some people swear by bed activities, but it's not for everyone.

The only time I would let myself just lie in bed was when ill. Now I always have the feeling I need to work on my PC and I cannot feel comfortable just lying in bed,

I used to rot in bed usually on weekends when I was still an employee a decade ago. Leaving that job, fast forward to now and much older, I don’t do it anymore. It made me feel sick if I do not move my body for long hours.
