I´m a hoarder. I almost got killed by a piece of meat today.

As I told you in my first post, I went to the kitchen for my coffee and inspiration for lunch on a chilly day. I have the rest of the soup but did nor know what to do with it. I can put together a minestrone but had no idea if I had other ingredientes. So I opened the door of the freezer. It is the one that belongs to the fridge. I always like to start with things I have there as it is not as cold as the deep freezer. Suddenly a big rock of frozen mean started to fall. I barely held it. If it had fallen on my toes I would have ended at the hospital. The meat was a big piece of pork meat of the kind that I love to bake with onions and apples. I had no idea that I had it. I almost bought some yesterday but knew that I had no room in the freezer. I would have bought a piece of it yesterday buy the supermarket is always tempting hoarder like myself. Yesterday they had an offer where I would get a second liter of my favorite ice cream for a lot less. Click. I bought 2. I also bought other groceries with that mermaid´s song of "buy the second one a lot cheaper". Friends, I have enough meat to become a person who only eats meat again. I eat lately more veggies and less meat. So I don´t know when I´ll eat all that. I have some ground meat thawing (I did not find a steak) and I´ll make a minestrone with ground meat today. I´ll add the soup and a bit of all the veggies I can get. See you.

I was fortunate that it was an "almost". Some times big lumps of frozen meat fall when I open the door of the freezer and I have to do wonders to step back.

Those chunks of frozen meat can be harmful! When my son in law was in medical school, he did a stint in his residency in Emergency Medicine. He never talked about his cases to us, of course, but I recall one day we were eating baked chicken, and he told of a lady who dropped a big frozen hen chicken on her foot and broke several bones. He said until then, he had never known anyone to do that. This was in a very busy Chicago ER. So yes, frozen meats are dangerous!!

I remember a news story about a man who passed out at a supermarket checkout. It turned out he had a frozen chicken hidden under his hat and was trying to steal it but the cold went to his head and he didn't make it out of the shop

This was a big piece, enough to make a sort of pork roast beef. But I could catch it on time. I usually keep these pieces of meat in the deep freezer.

@Fleura My local supermarket put up extra cameras last year over the part of the meat cases that hold the steaks and more expensive cuts of meat, the one guy working on setting the cameras said that people were putting wrapped steaks down their pants! Good grief.

It was a frozen rock. But when I cook it, I´ll be very happy. I will have to wait for guests though. It is a lot of meat for me.

@RebeccasFarm I love pork. And pork´s meat in my country is leaner than the one I´ve eaten in the US. Maybe they are other brand.

Oh my goodness, be careful what you place on the top of your freeze, it can be dangerous. You reminded me to add ice cream to my list.

I really don´t remember when I placed that meat there. I usually use the deep freezer that has drawers.

@LadyDuck They are easier to keep in order than the ones with a couple or shelves.

I wanted that. But if it had fallen on my toes, I would not have laughed. Frozen meat is heavy as a rock.

The pork wanted you to make it so glad it did not fall on you. The ground meat with minestrone sounds good,

I remember a great story about a woman who murdered someone with a frozen leg of lamb. Then she let it defrost and when the policeman knocked at her door she invited him to join her for dinner

Yuck! But that sounds full of imagination. I saw a forensic show where the murderer killed someome with a n icicle. Then he let it thaw.

A big piece of frozen meat could easily break a toe or two.

My husband is a food hoarder. We will never eat all the food that is in this house. I'm glad you weren't hurt by the pork. Have a good day.

I know. I have destroyed some small Tupperwake that fall from the freezer. In that sense too, the deep freezer is better as it has drawers instead of shelves.
