Today it is Andrés´ birthday. Andrés is Dixie´s son and he is living in Australia. I haven´t seen him for over 6 years. I called Dixie today and she said that they had been thinking about me. MY room is for the moment Andrés´ room. And Dixie bought a sofa bed many years ago but in spite of being very expensive I have never seen a worse bed except for foutons. So today the family is gathering for a tiny party for Andrés and Humberto offered to come to pick me up and bring me back. And I started to think about what to give to Andrés that he could put in his back pack. And I remembered my molas. Amola is an artwork made by the Guna (ex Kuna) natives in the St. Blas Islands in Panama. When Humberto and Dixie invited me for a sailing trip, I brought back some souvenirs. The molas are made from several layers of different colored fabrics and stitched together by hand. I brought several with the idea of framing them but I never did. And they are over my sofa arms. I thought now that I could give Andrés one or 2 of my molas. They are beautiful. But now that I look everything online, I thought I´d check how much they were worth. I seem to remember that I had bought each of them for a few dollars. It couldn´t have been more as I don´t have more money. But now, checking online, my molas are worth from US $400 to over $ 600 each. I am rich! So I thought that that would be a wonderful present. Not only it would be meaningful of a trip that was a dream come true but also it was expensive enough to be a very good present. I never gave them a marriage gift although I did lend my house for their marriage. I hope he likes the present. What do you think?

He did. And I chose one that has a giant parakeet in it. He told me that they were specially fonds of those birds. He told me that he was sure that they would frame it and place it on a wall. It was a complete success.

@LadyDuck I did. And now that I´m giving away my things, I´m glad that there are people that want them.
