Guitar in Casket

United States

I didn't know that Chuck Berry had a Gibson guitar bolted into his casket. He died at age 90 or so in his hometown of St Louis. RIP The man was a legend. I got to see him right up close in a bar in St Louis when I was just a young woman. Did you have a favorite Chuck Berry song? I think I liked Maybelline , though there were so many I liked. He was once asked where did he get the name Maybelline and he said it was a cow's name when he was a child in school. He certainly was a legend. Here he is singing another of his hits Little Queenie.

Even though the late Chuck Berry was before my time, the song he recorded I like was "Roll Over Beethoven" which The Beatles even though I did not know that Chuck sang it first.

CCan't say I'm surprised. People have odd requests upon their departure from this mortal plane.

“Memphis, Tennessee” and “The Promised Land” would be my two favorite Chuck Berry songs.

That is a bit unusual to have a guitar bolted into his casket. I have never heard of that before. Was he buried with it? Some relative of his might have really appreciated receiving that guitar in his will.

@RebeccasFarm "The Thrill is Gone" is just one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking songs in existence.

@RebeccasFarm I'm sorry; I have never heard of Chuck Berry. Nor have I ever seen a guitar.I have seen the instrument in pics and movies.
