Have you ever flown First Class on an airplane?

One time I booked a coach flight, but as I was waiting to board the flight from Los Angeles to Washington DC, it seemed that there was a problem with the seat in Coach, so I got changed to First Class. The service was great, I got to lean back and not worry about the person behind me, I recieved a very comfy pillow to take a nap. I don't have the money to do this for every flight, but it was a nice experience. What about you? Have you ever flown First class?

We used to fly a lot from Europe to the United States, we were frequent flyers and often we were "upgraded" to first class when the tourist class was overbooked. The best first class flight was from Nice (France) to Los Angeles on a Jumbo Jet on the upper deck.

What was different about the service at that time? Does this still exist nowadays?

@lifecoachjerusalem - It is a long time I do not fly anymore, but I noticed the difference from our first travels in the early 70 and those in the late 90... not even to compare! People were also very different, a lot more polite in the past.

@LadyDuck I see, well that is a trend that I have noticed too. They just want to get through the day and not pay as much attention to the customers.

@lifecoachjerusalem long time ago, late 70s, I flew from Damascus to Copenhagen. I was last to board and just took a chance and walked right in to 1st class and sat on an empty (and very comfortable) seat and no-one asked any questions.

@lifecoachjerusalem The 70s we’re wonderfully free and easy! Hence all the hijackings!

You were very lucky that you were able to do that. I think that now it would be difficult to stay in that seat, the flight attendants would probably make you move to a cheaper seat. . .

I've never flown first class. Maybe one day. But it hasn't happened yet.

Not really. The airline had issues with my economy class ticket and they had to upgrade my status to first class. It was one of my lucky days.
