The Gold Bar

I was watching this interesting episode of "Expensivest" on Vice with a guy named Two Chains as the host. He was exploring a bar named The Gold Bar in Little Italy of New York City. The place was made up of all gold for the very elite who wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of regular bars. There were Cartier-inspired tables(costing $5,00) to $7,000) so much like that the owner was sued by Cartier. The ceilings are gold leaf and cost $100,000. The walls are made up of row after row of skeletons made of ceramic and gold leafed. The bar is all gold and is worth about $100,000. I found out that gold is actually in crystal form and when melted down it actually loses value. The picture is from moneymetals.com

Looks like a very expensive place. I would not feel comfortable there even if I had money, I like to be among regular folks. What really amazes me is that the bar hours are 11 PM to 4 AM. Now in my younger days I would have been interested to see this place at least once.

Same here. But I am curious about how others live. That's regular bar hours anymore. I wonder if there is any entertainment.

@celticeagle if you remember Barry Manilow and his song The Copacabana then let me tell you I was a young adult at that time and they opened up a nightclub in NYC called the Cocabana, Of course, I had to get to see it for myself i went spent a lot of money, and was disappointed by the club itself, the music, and the milling crowds. Now it might have been better if they had had Manilow at the piano

And not have a crowd of noisy, rude people around.

@LadyDuck ......I can't either. It ruined the time for me. And, that's just one more reason I don't go out much if ever.

Yes, indeed. I bet the cover charge is a steep one too.
