Texas Roadhouse

After our doctor visit Friday we got out of there right at lunch time. My hubby had low blood sugar all morning even after eating a good breakfast. It had dropped on our drive to Baton Rouge down into the 70's so I went through the drive through and got him a hamburger.
We had not talked about eating out but he was hungry and his numbers were going down so I knew he needed to eat. We decided on Texas Roadhouse. It has been some time since we have been to this restaurant and I am glad we decided to give it a try!
We usually discuss what we are thinking about ordering but we did not on Friday. When the waitress took our order, I gave her mine first and then my husband ordered the exact thing or entree that I ordered. He had different sides though. We both chose pulled pork. My sides were a loaded baked potato and a side salad. He ordered corn and Cajun rice.
It didn't take long at all for our food to be served. We got hot rolls and cinnamon butter when we sat down and they were delicious. I used to not care for the butter, but it was okay and I enjoyed it.
The meat on our plates covered more than half the plate. It was enough for two people to eat! I ate my salad and my baked potato and only about three bites of my pulled pork. The rest came home in a to-go box. My hubby took care of his sides, but had some of his entree left also. We ended up having our leftovers for a late dinner at home later that evening.
We enjoyed the food, had great service and the atmosphere was very lively. I would give Texas Roadhouse five stars for going above the average in service and good food. We will definitely be back! In fact., I am thinking about treating my daughter to lunch there Monday when I have to take her back to the allergy/asthma specialist.
Have you ever eaten at Texas Roadhouse? Do you like it? If so, what is your favorite menu item?

As much of a meat lover as I am, I've never eaten at Texas Roadhouse. We have one here in town, but I've never been to it. I've always been a Longhorn Steakhouse kind of guy, mostly because their restaurant is much closer to where I live. lol

The Flo’s filet at Longhorn is our favorite steak. The smallest one is perfect for me. Now I’m drooling… can you stop by on your way and pick me up?

@MarieCoyle - I remember that I liked Longhorn more than Roadhouse. All I ask at a steakhouse is a small steak, medium rare and a baked potatoes with only a little sour cream.

Most definitely. I like their little filet, it's the perfect size. Of course, we haven't been out to eat in a long time now, with son's illness. My son in law has treated us several times to restaurant dinners, which is so sweet of him, and my son enjoyed that.
I like Longhorn's steaks and their green salads as well. They also make perfectly steamed broccolli I enjoy.

Yes, for a steak chain restaurant, Longhorn steak is really good.

Well...it's ok. I am not always fond of chain restaurants, but if it's a steakhouse around here that's a chain, I would pick Longhorn. Their food is consistent, and always good. If they mess up at all, they fix it right away, but they rarely mess up. I suppose the Texas Roadhouse restaurants are like every other restaurant, everywhere--there are some that are just way better than others. Like I said, ours is just ok. We have a local steak house that is phenomenal, and it's the best one for miles around. It's our birthday dinner place, and such. So, so good.

I do not think I have eaten there. Hubby's sides should have brought his sugars up nicely and the protein would sustain them, you would think. I like it when a restaurant meal provides enough for an extra meal from the leftovers. Then it feels pretty frugal.

He was fine after eating lunch. The problem was sugar not coming up after breakfast or with stopping to get a burger on way to doctor!
Yes, entrees were only $12.99 each and there was a lot of food for that price. Can't wait to go back again. I want to try their steaks!

We love Texas Roadhouse. Unfortunately it's the furthest restaurant from us; so we don't go there unless I have a doctor's appointment in that area. I usually have the Chicken Critters, mashed potatoes, salad and veggies. I make a salad of the leftovers to eat the next day. Have a good day.

We were driving to Denton from FW and we stopped for BBQ chicken. They gave us a whole chicken!
