Protecting the Children

The attached photo states, "this is how everyone of us should feel about protecting children". The important word in that statement is "should". Why is it not a given that all feel that way? Why should we have to make a statement saying that we SHOULD feel that way? Children are precious gifts from God. They are our most precious treasures. They are innocent and helpless and dependent on us. We should naturally spring into action to fight for them. I have dedicated my life to protecting and teaching children. I will use every resource available, to me, protecting and nurturing these precious ones. Jesus had some powerful words for those who hinder and hurt children. Luke 17:2 It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin. Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Mark 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. When it comes the children in my life, this Grams will fight with her very life to protect them (physically, emotionally, and spiritually).

Because like it or not, we're human and we need reminding. Plus we as a human race don't always agree on what's right or wrong for children. I was raised differently than you were, and I was safe by my countery's standard. Nothing is truely universal.

@gnatsmom No. I agree. I am just saying, that we're human. As god has given us guidence in his bible, he also gave us the ability to think for ourselves. We are also very diverse. We are very devided on what "protection" looks like. While we need to protect our children from harm, we need to guide them to be free-thinking adults. We need to allow them to make mistakes, and yes, get hurt. It is unfair to treat children as weak, helpless and unable to care for or think for themselves. The best protection a parent can give, is to teach right from wrong, and make sure that they can feel comfortable coming to us when they need our help.

Agreed. We all grow up in different cultures. How we protect and educate kids differs from culture to culture.

I see "the eyes of God" in all humans. I enjoy working with kids and helping them develop a sense of control over their environments.
