Put the prod away, Valerie! I finished a book chapter today!

I finished up my "Street Life" chapter today. I have three chapters to finish up, and then I am ready to find a publisher. This will be "edgier" than most developmental psychology books, as I worked in some pretty rough neighborhoods, but I am hoping it will be both educational and encouraging for other psychologists and social workers who want to make the US a better place for kids and adolescents. Will it sell? I have no idea. I reread Oliver Sacks's "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat " and Alison Gopink's "The Scientist in the Crib" as I was deciding how to organize this book. I recommend the latter to any new parents. It could change the way that you see young babies. They are, to me, "learning machines." with big and vulnerable hearts. Wish me luck. I am not new to getting stuff published, but this would be my first "grown-up" book.

Three chapters to go. You're on a roll. The book sounds interesting. I look forward to reading it. I put the prod away.

Don't put it too far away. I'll have to see if I get "cocky" and take a couple of days off from the book, or whether I can declare myself "on a roll" and get some more work done today.

@TheHorse All right. It's back by my side. (Sigh) the work I need to do to make certain the next best-seller gets published soon.

Oliver Sack has fascinating books. I wish I could remember the woman's name that wrote the books about her experiences with troubled children. The antidotes kept me thinking.

@sallypup I remember a book from way back when called "Dibbs in Search of Self" or something like that. I think it was about an Autistic kid, but I can't remember. I can't even remember if I read it!
