I Love My Insurance But...

Dang I have issue with hold times and such. I was in customer service for 30 years and so I expect good service when I made calls. I get riled up when I am put on hold for a long time. The person handling the call should be coming back on to tell me the status of the call every few minutes. That rarely happens anymore. Yes, I certainly do love my insurance. It is Molina Health Care. I have had it for about three years now I think. It has a lot of things going for it. I get free yearly dental, eye, and ear exams. I just had a Home Health Nurse come to my home for a basic assessment on April 18th. I think that is great that they do this annually especially when I don't get in to my doctor like I probably should. They also have incentives and I like that. One time during the pandemic they gave us a debit card to use for whatever we needed. Winter before last I had long hold times getting into the OTC department to order a few things. I tried and tried. All different times of the day. It was frustrating. No problem getting through now. I was calling about an incentive today. I had gotten an email saying that if I had a nurse come out I could get a $35 incentive. I had already had this done so I was calling to see if I could still get the incentive. I talked to three people and explained the situation each time. They kept putting me on hold. I set on a final hold for over 20 minutes and then the call just ended. Should I call back? I'm trying to decide whether I will or not.

I'm glad you get good incentives with your health insurance. Many of them offer the same incentives. I get wonderful incentives too and an OTC card with a good amount for groceries, utility bills, and OTC items at Walgreens. It really helps. They recently added the walking incentive. If I walk for ten days and get a minimum of 5000 steps, I get a $10 reward added to my OTC among the other incentives they have. What I would do since you talked to several people, is go online and check your insurance account to see if they added the incentive there before you call again. It should have been noted on your account for the people you talked too. If not, then call again.

I checked and for some reason, I don't get that OTC card you mentioned. The walking incentive is nice. I checked my account and nothing was added or subtracted.

@just4him ......I wish I had that as part of my card. But, I am thankful that it will pay for transportation when I need to go to the doctor. So that is good.

@celticeagle I love my OTC card. It's a huge lifesaver with the grocery benefit. I get next to nothing for FoodShare.

I wouldn't call them back. I'm on medicaid and there are some good incentives on some of the health plans. But the one I'm on doesn't have much. Just an app that I wouldn't use. I had thought about switching plans, but I decided not to.

It's whatever works for you. I feel fortunate to have the insurance I have when I hear of many seniors who say theirs isn't real good.

I would call them back and tell them first that you had this bad experience being put on hold forever and then the communication just ended.
