Two years ago...

On this day two years ago my dad passed away.
He was only 70 years old.
Everyone was shocked by the news when they found out.
I never thought that my dad would die so young and that it would happen in the hospital of all places.
But such is life.
Things can change in a heartbeat.
Things can change unexpectedly.
And when you least expect it.
It’s a sad day today and to top it off it is cold, rainy, and gloomy outside.

I'm so sorry, Lena. It doesn't seem like 2 years already. I hope you can remember all the good times.

We went to the cemetery on Sunday. I got teary-eyed standing by the grave, especially after I saw his picture on the headstone. It's from my wedding.

@LindaOHio I wished I had never erased that last voicemail from him. I’d love to hear his voice again.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Life can be very fragile, which is why we should not take anything for granted. I lost my father unexpectedly 7 years ago, he was only in his mid-70s. Because we never know when it's our time to go, I feel blessed with each new morning, and I thank the Lord for each day we're given.

@lovebuglena There’s no doubt we would live differently if we knew when our time was up, but honestly, we should already be living like that now, even when we don’t know when our time is up.

@moffittjc you know how they say live your life like it’s your last day. Or something to that effect. If people were to do that they wouldn’t bother going to work or doing house chores or running errands. They’d be doing fun things.

Sorry for your loss! Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if we knew exactly when our time would come. And if we would live differently knowing that.

@lovebuglena Yes, he should have been there to chase the boys away with a stick. He left when I needed him most.

We all go eventually but it's still heartbreaking to see a loved one go. I wish he didn't have to suffer for over a month before passing away.

So sorry for your loss. Grief has a way of sneaking up on you all the more on ugly weather days. I suffered a loss recently that has been very difficult so I truly understand. Respect the process and cry if you need to. Write letters to your loved one. Talk to others that knew your loved one. There are so many ways to try to cope. Most importantly be true to yourself and celebrate your dad knowing that he would be proud of you no matter what way you choose to remember him. That's the import part, right? Hugs.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Losing a loved one is never easy, and it's especially hard when it happens unexpectedly. It must have been a shock for everyone. It's true what they say, life can be so unpredictable. One moment everything seems normal, and the next, everything changes. Today must be especially tough, with the gloomy weather matching the heaviness in your heart. Sending you warmth and comfort during this difficult time.

Thank you. Things can change in the blink of an eye. I got to visit his grave Sunday. Bittersweet.
