I think that a lot less people than 50% are happy with their lifes, at least in the developped countries. IMO that number can not be more than 1/3 of people living in these countries, and even this number may be too optimistic. Ironically, as a statistic showed a few years ago, the world's "most happy people" where those living in India, which is one one poorest countries. This just shows that happyness has a very litle to do with material things, but depends great from the life philosophy, culture and ethnic, geographic background of peoople. What is your opinion about the above? Is your conutry's population happy or un-happy per average? Why? What is the key to happyness?

well this is all about satisfaction .. Today's situation is that no one is satisfied.. The person who have much money is less happy than the person who soesn't have money.. And lot many people are looking for love and support from their family but they dont get.

I think it has a lot to do with expectations more than anything else. In developed countries, we tend to take many things for granted. That includes having somewhere to live, good food to eat, a car, job and so on. In poorer countries people do not have these expectations, and accept what they have and anything extra they get is seen as a bonus. I think that the majority of Australians are happy, although of course there are many who would like things to be different. We have a great country where people have somewhere to live, something to eat, work is available and for those who cannot work due to health or age, a very good social security system.

I think you are right. Those who can truely be spiritual and look at life through a spiritual point of view are much happier than those who are not. Those in India, many of them are spiritual so it's no wonder. But with the average North American here is how it is... wake up early, rush up by wshing up, waking up the kids, getting them ready for school, taking them to school, rushing down your breakfast if you even have it, then rush to work, deal with stress at work, get home, deal with the stress with the family... learn that either one of the kids is failing a class or is sick or something, then the bills, oh the bills.. have to make sure you have enough money to pay it off, you get the idea...how can one be happy with that kind of stress in their life 24/7? At least that is how it is in my home anyway!! I thought I had lost my spiritual ways because of having bad business luck and bad luck with "friends" over the past year but maybe deep down I just plain hate my life LOL

I think it comes from the fact that the more people have, the more they want. People haven't learned to be thankful for what they have, plus the added stress involved in trying to get the things they want. Somebody once said "people are about as happy as they make up their mind to be". In a lot of ways that is true.
