When Leticia comes here our job is to cook. That is, she cooks and I suggest Now I want to use all the food I have in the freezers, specially the meat. And I got out some tripes I bought so that she could make those delicacies for me. I discovered that I can hardly cook with the cane as I only have one arm and it is not my best one. I had bought too much as now the butcher sells frozen tripes and you cannot ask for the amount you like. So Leticia thawed it and cooked it and will freeze again the tripes in amounts for the 2 of us. And today we will happily eat them. She will cook rice to have on the side and to use on Friday when she comes. She will then cook the pepers filled with rice, mead and onion and heated over tomato sauce. Those are the dishes that Anita does not eat. She is not fond of leftovers. Do you eat tripes? I love them.

There´s a good butcher that has them but the supermarket never has them. And if it did I might not want to buy them from the supermarket.

@LadyDuck In my big supermarket I too have a sort of butchery inside. There they have delicacies but not these old fashioned cuts. I think that the people who go to supermarkets don´t eats tripes, tongues and the like. But in a butcher in neighborhood (only meat) I bought the last time 2 tongues, some tripe and a pork´s hand. There I can tell the butcher how do I want the ossobuco.

@marguicha - We have supermarkets with the butchery inside. One not too far from us has a good butcher, I know he has tripes, tongue and ossobuco. I have to ask to my husband to drive there, I will guide him, he is totally lost now when on the road.

I'm sure I ate tripes when I was growing up on the farm. Mom didn't let anything go to waste when dad butchered the cows, pigs or chickens... There were some things I wouldn't eat, like brains no matter how mom fixed them... Dad always told her not to make me eat it and he'd eat my share... I'm glad you and Leticia will have delicious foods to eat. Pretty isn't fond of leftovers, either. That just means more for me to eat.

I would have happily eaten your share of brains! I´m very unhappy that now we cannot eat brains because of the mad cows.Did your mom have you eat rice?

@marguicha I ate rice until my brother told me mom made it from maggots. After I told mom why I wouldn't eat rice, she spanked Steve and didn't force me to eat it.

It’s wonderful that Leticia is there to help you not only cook but portion things out for future meals.

It is wonderful. I buy some delicious things that Leticia cooks to perfection. But at the butcher, there are some cuts that are too big for the 2 of us.

No! My mother used to cook them; and they looked and smelled awful! I hope you enjoy yours.

It depends. My husband hated the smell of chickpeas and cauliflower. So I could not even cook them for myself.

I don't honestly know a single soul who eats tripe. My husband's grandparents loved fried brains. I could not imagine eating them, as the appearance alone made my stomach churn. I just don't much like organ type of meats at all...I will eat liver,a tiny piece if it's beef liver, pork liver tastes bad to me. I do like chicken livers and pate, they are delicious. But tripe and brains, please eat my share!

I used to love brain until there was a didease called "the mad cows disease". From then on they don´t sell brain. There are some meats (likr brain, liver or tripes) that used to be eated many decades ago but not now. At least not in some countries. I don´t think that my grandchildren have eaten them.

@MarieCoyle I have the idea that children now don´t know that chicken have heads or feet.

@marguicha I know some people really like those things...people who raise cattle and butcher, still have all of the parts like brains, etc. but not many people want them.

I would cook tripe for my mother but I never liked it. Actually I've never tried it but don't really want to.

I started to like tripe when I was older. The same thing happened with lots of foods. I was very picky when I was a child.
