A funny sign in Westonia, Western Australia

I found a funny notice in the Westonia Museum and thought I’d share it with you. At one point in the museum, you could enter a dark room that looked like part of an underground mine. When you pressed a button, two miners started talking and they were setting off explosives. There was a very loud rumble and the room shook, much like the earthquake room in Cunderdin. I thought the sign was funny - one adult and 13 children - but maybe if school-children go with a teacher, then the sign makes more sense.

That is making the things perhaps "Too realistic" ! Is this museum pretty popular? In general, I see that some museums in India too are getting more funding and making things attractive for the visitors.

The museums we've been seeing lately have all been very impressive. There always seems to be a few people going through the museums we've been to. We don't have the numbers that overseas cities might have but at least our museums are never crowded.

By the time I read all that, even with my new glasses, I'd be on the floor.

It wasn't too bad - the vibrations that is.

It still seems funny to me. Of course I would never want to supervise thirteen children, no matter how well behaved.

Maybe it wouldn't vibrate because of the weight.

An interesting experience. You are right, if school-children go with a teacher the sign makes sense.

@JudyEv - It is very possible, I cannot see one adult with 13 kids!

Perhaps that is the idea behind the sign.

The area would vibrate so I guess there was a weight limit to it.

I think it's funny how specific the sign is about the ratio of adults and children.

Maybe the last bit is tongue in cheek. There would have to be a lot of leeway as kids and adults could be wildly varying weights.

It is thought-provoking to wonder how many kids without adults! Obviously at least one adult should be there to manage the kids.

It's quite an open space and I'm sure the kids are well supervised.

You're right about the adult and 13 children. I've never heard of anything like this.

If I was in a mine while they were detonating gelignite I'd be scared of the roof falling in.
