Is this tacky? Wedding Reception

United States

Ok so my husband and I lived in Florida for awhile. We got married in Florida and had a small but nice affair with about 45 people. Most of my friends/family from Washington state didn't get to come. We moved back to Washington and next weekend are having our "Washington Reception" I am really wedding planned out and I don't feel like decorating!! We are renting an apartment complex clubhouse, having tacos/beer/wine/soda and chit chat..on paper plates and plastic cups. If you received an invitation for a "marriage celebration" for 3 months after someone got married, would you be expecting ALL the works? I did tell alot of people it's CASUAL...but do you think I am being cheap?

Not at all cheap. I think it's great to be able to celebrate casually. I would so go! And remember, your celebrating it with friends. It's a party to get together and say you guys got married and would like to share it with friends by getting them together.

No. I would expect something simple. I think that when people hear "casual" they will expect just that. They know that you just moved and went through the huge wedding ordeal and are tired of planning and from moving. I think all of your friends form Washingotn are going to enjoy anything you do and feel honored that you are goin gout of your way to make them part of your wedding.

I think if you told people it was casual.. and it is at an apartment complex clubhouse.. I don't think people expect the works. I would just be happy to "celebrate" with the newlyweds.. I wouldn't care what I was eating (though as long as it was food!!) and I wouldn't care how the place was decorated! Congratulations!!

I do not think it is cheap, it is simple but yet fun. Casual means Casual they can't expect something eligant when you already had your actual wedding and reception in Florida. I think it is nice that you are even having another one for the people who could not make it to Florida!
