I have a 'verandah'

I have long hair which I think suits me better than short hair. I used to get it permed regularly but now I just wear it straight and get it trimmed whenever I happen to think about it which isn’t very often. My hair is fine and always wants to fall forward over my face which is why I often wear a beanie or hat. It keeps my hair out of my eyes and off my face. This morning, I noticed in the mirror that there were several bits of short hair sticking out over my forehead. I was suddenly reminded that when I was a child, my mother and sister would tease me about these short bits of hair, calling it my ‘verandah’. I hadn’t thought about that for decades.
