That was the only two things expected for success when Buc-ee's opened in Clute, Texas. That was in 1982 and was founded by Arch "Beaver" Aplin III. Just like a regular convenience store. The most popular snack was the mix of caramel corn and crispy cereal called Beaver Nuggets.
The average Buc-ee's has 100 gas pumps and the place won the 2012 "Best Rest Room in America" award from Cintas. They have a 24/7 staff of custodians.
EV chargers are available at select locations as well as Ethanol free and DEF gas.
As of 2026 there are 55 open Buc-ee's across the U.S. including Alabama (5), Georgia (3+), and Tennessee (2+), while single locations exist in Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Colorado, Missouri, Virginia, Mississippi, and Ohio.
Now you may ask why I wrote a post about Buc-ees, and I would tell you I DON'T KNOW! Funny, silly and a place I might stop into if I were on a road trip going through one of those states.

Sounds pretty silly. There's a picture of the guy who started them and he looks like a skinny Colonel Sanders.
