Could You Live With Just 44 Items?

I just finished an episode of Elsbeth where there was a famous author who was a minimalist and wrote about how to declutter your life She believed and not owning more than 44 items. Whenever you acquired a new item, you had to get rid of one. Now I am terrified of clutter, but even I have more than 44 items. So I’m going through my closet and drawers to see if there’s any more that I can get rid of. There’s a photo attached of some basic ways to start decluttering.

I'm not sure I could. But it's a good idea to get rid of one every time there's a new item. Hmmm, I got a new phone, I got rid of my old one. I got a new iPad, I got rid of the old iPad. I got three new bags, I wonder what I should get rid....but I will try to find something.

44 items is wild, I own more than that just in my kitchen drawer. That episode sounds fun though, now I want to go clean out my closet too. Good luck with the decluttering, the closet is always the hardest part.

So they based an episode off of Marie Condo. I read her book. It’s changed lives, but she herself said it’s not realistic.

I definitely have more than 44 items. But whenever I buy something, I try to get one out. And I usually declutter twice a year

Unless a person lives in a temperate climate, they need clothing for summer and winter--sweaters, coats, gloves, hats, boots, for example, for winter alone. More blankets. If a person cooks meals from scratch, they need cooking pans, baking pans, utensils, etc. No, I would have a very hard time with only 44 items. I read the Marie Condo book. Not realistic at all.
