I am planning to buy a console table

I don't have any console table in my home yet. It's actually not my style to use a console table. That's why I've been quite hesitant to buy one for the longest time. Although I have seen online pictures of a home with a console table, it looks fantastic and beautiful. But I am not so sure if I would love seeing one in my home. If I would be comfortable using it. I'm planning to put it against the wall and behind the sofa. So that the sofa is not pushed against the wall and to bring the sofa closer to the centre of the living room. It may make my living room more cosy and may give it a more cohesive look. So do you think having a console table would be a great choice? But I'm planning a cheaper console table only. Not made of real wood, just an imitation of wood.
