Have you ever been tricked into eating something you thought was gross?

My husband is originally from North Carolina, and I'm from Michigan, which is where we currently live. We were visiting his parents one day and they made some soup with 'hamburger' meat in it. I was told that the 'hamburger' was beef, and ate 2 bowls of the yummy soup! After I was done, they told me that the hamburger was deer!! I don't eat wild game, but that was good! They tried that again with bear meat, but that tasted funky and I immediately knew it wasn't beef! What food were you tricked into eating? Did you like it? Did you start eating it regularly after that?

I ate camel meat in Tunisia. I thought it was beef but later I learned it was camel meat. Still it was tasty.

I didnt have to get tricked into eating anything. I tried deer and it isnt bad. My husband had me try squirrel, which looks nasty but tastes like chicken. If I wouldnt have seen it before I probually could have finished it, but seeing it ruined it for me

I had a similar situations as yours, where it was a deerburger instead of a hamburger patty. It tasted pretty much the same but I could tell a little bit of a diffference in the texture of the meat.

LOL! Ground venison when cooked in something else is decent. I hate venison but being married to a Yooper, we have a ton of venison. I use it in chili, spagetti and soups. I don't use it as a stand alone is things such as meatloaf because then it does taste like venison. I LOVE NC, I want to move there and now with this weather would be about the right time LOL!
