cats versus dogs

This is a long time disagreement with my fiance & i.He hates cats, i love them.He loves dogs, i think they're ok.Aparantly when our beautiful kitty dies we're not getting another one....according to him & like i said we don't get another dog either.Buthe says we are coz thats different.Cats are mre high matience, don't know how!!!!!So in your opinion what is better a cat, or a dog & why???? I don't want just a cat, or dog answer.Thanks in adavance for everyone replies :)
