Who is your favorite author?

Who would you say is your favorite author and why? I enjoy reading and I would love to find new authors to try out.

Bernard Cornwell. He incorporates history, with fiction and a little humour and is very discriptive in his writings. Once I pick up a Bernard Cornwell book, I have trouble putting it back down. He's a wonderful author.
