I bought a sewing machine and haven't really gotten it out of the box. I've looked over the booklet but am still hesitant to plug it in. Can anyone lend me some advice?

Go buy a few yards of broadcloth in colors that match your current bedding, then start making pillow cases. This will give you practice on measuring, cutting, adding seam allowance, turning corners, and making a fold down casing. Once you have made a few you will have the basics down and can move onto simple patterns. Always have a warm iron and a board set up so you can press seams and hems as you sew.

Thanks, but I don't think I'm that advanced. I will give it a try this weekend. It's the first time I've used a sewing machine. I'm sure I can get used to it. My main purpose of getting one was to hem some pants. Anything after that would be gravy!
