Songs Say It All

Have you ever had this happen to you? You are listening to the radio or your ipod or whatnot and that song comes on the radio that sounds like the artist just dipped into your brain and pulled out the experience and put it into words. I was driving down the road and Carrie Underwoods song "Don't Forget to Remember Me" came on and it seriously was me and my mom a year ago when I was leaving for college and then when I moved out on my own. When everytime she called I told her things were fine when as I spoke to her I was trying to kill the numerous bugs in the kitchen or scrub the mold off the wall of my broke down apartment, as I watched the bills pile up and just wanted to break down. So how do they do it? I can have the same thing happen to me but I can never seem to pull anything out like that. Maybe you just have to be a certain type of person to be able to create such amazing songs. I dont know but I wish I could cause I could stand being a rich superstar.

This happens to me all the time, and you seem to find even more songs that you can relate to when you are depressed...lol.

I think sometimes they just start writing about their emotions and it comes out into a song. We do the same thing just dont have music to it. You should try it some time. Write down what you are feeling and look back over it and change a few words around to make it rhyme. It may not be a song but perhaps a poem or even a book. We tend to forget in our lives that we aren't the only ones who have been there and done that. We learn to live by the songs we hear and it makes life seem more sensible at times. That's what music is. I think some of the discussions on here are songs at times. Let us know when you write your first song.

Most Smiths or Morrissey songs do that. There are several other songs that I could swear were written for/about me cuz they just sum my life up so perfectly. I, too, wish I could write my thoughts and feelings down as well as these lyricists. *sigh*

i often find a line or even a whole verse might mean something to me but not necessarily the whole song and of course our personal interperetation of a song may be different to what it was intended but the words still speak to us...straight into our heart an soul. one line in 'the living years' by mike n the mechanics is something that reminds me of dad " i wasnt there that morning the day my father passed away, i didnt get to tell him all the things i had to say....."(the rest doesnt really count as i was 12 at the time and still dont have kids lol) often i find that certain lines but not the whole song sum up how i feel so i tell someone to listen to it so they know how i am feeling

I totally know what you mean. For instance the song "I knew I loved you before I met you" by savage garden is totally Brandon's and my song. He and I both knew from the first time we talked that things would certainly be different with us. There was just such a strong connection between us and it was very obvious. I guess in a way neither of us quite wanted to believe it could be real but we knew and we felt in our hearts that it was and now in a little less than a year we will be married. who knew? lol

It happens to me all the time. I think that artists write about their own experiances and put as much feeling into a song as they can. That's why alot of band, musicians, and singers become famous. They use really emotions and put themselves into the songs they write.
