Genealogy

What, no one answered this? I'll have a go at it. I'm all the things you are, plus Scottish, Dutch, and a little Cherokee for good measure. I went with my father to the little town in Scotland where his grandparents were from, expecting a sleepy little old-world village, maybe a barkeep in a tweed hat or something. Nope. Our waiter had a ponytail and a Jack Daniel's t-shirt, and the bar was playing American country music over the satellite radio. I guess you need to go pretty far from civilization to find a place where American culture hasn't reached.

I have always been curious about this as well. How did you get started? Are there any good websites to be able to do this? I would appreciate any information to help me get started in seeing who my decendants are.

This is something I was always interested in. My Dad came from a large Family and I would be interested in the background on that. Also I need to trace the Family Tree to find out if anyone ever carried the gene for an illness I have.
