Personally, this is one food I really enjoy. But most of the time if I eat this unless I take extra Insulin, I notice a Huge spike, and feel Crummy. I would Love to get some Suggestions or Recipes on how I can enjoy Rice from time to time without having such a huge of spike. What have others found to help out?

I did not know that Rice does this to a diabetic. What is in rice that would cause a person to feel really bad I am sorry that you can't eat it without having to take extra insulin. I enjoy eating rice too. There must be some way that you can eat rice without causing any problems for you.

I would Love to know how to be able to eat Rice without the spiking as well. Sometimes I really want Rice and have to end up paying for the consequences afterwards by doing so.

My boyfriends father is diabetic and we help him find recipes that he can use. I have a few websites that I use to find them. I hope you can find something you like..... http://www.diabetic-recipes.com/ http://www.lifeclinic.com/whatsnew/cookbook/diabetescookbook.asp http://www.diabetic-lifestyle.com/ http://www.cinnamonhearts.com/ http://www.cooksrecipes.com/category/diabetic.html http://diabeticgourmet.com/recipes/

A friend of ours who is diabetic eats rice, generally white and doesn't seem to have much trouble if he only has a small helping. Other than that he eats brown rice. Have you spoken to your Doctor or diabetes specialist about this problem? It is awful that you cannot eat something like this without having a problem. Maybe it is not necessarily the rice, but how it is prepared, i.e. plain boiled rice or do you add other things to it?

Unfortunately Rice is a complex carbohydrate. Carbohydrates are complex sugars. Therefor if you are a diabetic and eat rice, it is like eating slow-release sugar. Since it is a problem with the molecular composition, you cannot eat the rice without this effect. Sorry.

If you like to know about diabets, you can go here for you references. http://diabetes.personal-health-guide.com I got a niece who also have diabetes at age 11yrs only. Very pitiful to see her to inject with insulin everyday. She was diagnosed with type 1 so there is nothing much that can be done. just hope for the best for her. previously i dont even know what is type 1 or type 2. we learn more when our loved ones are affected. take care of your diet as i understand thats very important.

I am not a big fan of rice. My husbands loves the flavored ones that can be done in the microwave. They are quick and easy, not sure how you could do it and not have it affect your insulin levels though.

It sounds like most of what I would have said has been mentioned here--brown rice, whole grains, additional protein. The people I know who are diabetic are still as different from each other as night and day in their sensitivities. I suppose the other thing I would say is limit your portions. Do you like your rice in savory dishes, or sweet ones. You might try cinnamon in the dishes that are appropriate. How long have you been dealing with diabetes, when were you diagnosed?

if once it has attacked.we should take care bcoz a diabetic person has more chances of getting heart attacks,it may attack on kidneys too .so better follow the restriction on food for having more life better.

Brown rice isn't suppose to be so bad for blood sugar. You could try that. Also, I would think if you eat it with a protein it wouldn't cause such a spike.
