100.00, 500.00, 1,000.00 what do you think is to much to spend. Depending on the size of the family, I figure if we can spend at least 200.00 on each person that would be good.

I think it depends on your income, and how many people that you plan to purchase for. There is no set amount in my opinion.

For me at Christmas no amount of money is too much :D Christmas is my favorite holiday and I always spend a ton of money, probably around $5000 which is a lot but its okay LOL. I spend most of it on my daughter and my grandkids. So far this year I have already spend $2000 and i'm not done yet. Happy Holidays!!

I am big on teaching my kids the true meaning of Christmas. The celebration of Jesus! So, although my husband and I can afford more we only buy our girls one big gift to share and then 1 - 2 small individual gifts. They get gifts from grandpaprents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends...so they do not lack...believe me. They also get gifts throughout the year. They live very priviledged lives. We try to teach them that it is better to give than receive. So we are big on letting them pick out things and give to needy families. My kids love it. I will be satisfied when my kids tell me they love to give more than receive. And I want them to come to that conclusion on their own just like my husband and I did.

Thank you for your respones, sounds like your kids are great kids, keep up the good work, I may have to try the 1 big present and 2 little, but it may be hard with a boy and a girl, they never like the same thing.

This may not sound like what everyone wants to hear...but here is what my sister, a friend and I decided this year. After years of overdoing the gifts at Christmas time, we have all decided to cut spending to $25 per person --with the exception for the 3 children on our lists. They will get one large item from each of us and a couple of smaller ticket items. Believe it or not, I am having more fun with my shopping. I am getting a little bit creative and am not stressed out about money.

Wish I could afford that and more, but on a budget, I figure if all are healthy and can be together and enjoy each others company, thats what I'd wish, hope and want. Someday all will be fine for all. Holidays are great, but its also a time we reflect on the ones that have passed on and leaves us the best gift of all, memories. So, please everyone make precious memories each holiday season for the next generations to follow. Take care and God bless you this holiday season.

well, I spend about 250 on my son and about 225 on my bf, then like my bf's mom and step dad and his brother and sister in law and my mom and dad, sister, neices, brother ect, we spend no more then 50 dollars per person, because that adds up.

Yes very true, I guess having a smaller limit for other family members is a good idea, and spending more on your kids is a good idea. Thank you for your response.
