Why do some people thrive on chaos?

I've noticed this... and I can't seem to figure out why some people thrive on drama and chaos...

I knew a fair few people like this, you give them advice on it and they’ll run off screaming for hills that you’re abused them, and you have no respect, and oh gosh, the world might as well be dying. Without the tension, they have little else of excitement in their life.

Some people live off of stress. If they don't have something to stress out about, or worry about they're generally depressed people. My mom's life used to center around stress. Now, she's a lot better than she used to be.
