Gwyneth Paltrow hates Americans?

Paltrow recently told a Portugese newspaper this: "I love the English lifestyle, it's not as capitalistic as America. People don't talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner. I like living here because I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans." After the outrage over the remarks, Paltrow claims that she was misquoted by the newspaper. But some sources say that she's lying. A simple Google search will show that Paltrow has expressed a similar hatred towards the U.S.A in interviews before. In this article - from January of 2006 - in the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper, Gwyneth was quoted as saying, "I love the English way, which is not as capitalistic as it is in America. People don't talk about work and money; they talk about interesting things at dinner parties. I like living here because I don't tap into the bad side of American psychology, which is 'I'm not achieving enough, I'm not making enough, I'm not at the top of the pile.' It's just kind of like, I am." And, in this article from February of 2006, Paltrow was quoted as telling Britain's Star magazine, "Brits are far more intelligent and civilised than Americans. I love the fact that you can hail a taxi and just pick up your pram and put in the back of the cab without having to collapse it. I love the parks and places I go for dinner and my friends. It's a pretty city, you know" What do you think?

Maybe it's not the people but what the focus is on in america. I sometimes envy countries that actually take an hour long luch break. They shut down the store to go get luch, how nice is that. Then they probably leave work behind and enjoy the meal and thier company. Who wouldn't want that! She fits in my double sided post. She has issues about deciding on what to say.

i guess americans work too much that they sometimes forget to enjoy life more. sometimes it's an advantage because look at you, you're one of the richest nation in the whole world. but my advice is for you guys to take it easy. life's too short to spend it in the office. :)

Right! I'm glad I'm not in an office! Hahaha. I think that all professions include stress, it's good when the person had learned how to deal with it.

I don't think what she said is so bad. It is true that Americans are always trying to get more more more. More money, more clothes, more material things. We are the only nation in the world that is truely money hungry. What she said is true. English people are more intersted in learning not earning.
