expansion of space

If we go by the most widely accepted theories, the universe is constantly expanding. Can there actually be limitless space for the universe to expand for ever? Or is there a barrier at some far end in space that we havent seen yet which can limit the expansion? Is it possible that the expansion of the universe can come to a stand still and then reverse? Questions? Questions? but r there any answers or thoughts on this matter????
