Why is the word or sound of a fart so funny? As long as people has been on the earth there has been a fart and it still cracks people up! why?

And if your trying to be quiet about it.....if you have kids they will scream it out that you have farted n public!

People laugh to cover their embarrassment....farts are a fact of life none of us readily admit to..so even if it's not us doing it...were greatful and we laugh to hide that..
