If you go to Costa Rica (which I highly recommend) you must go to Volcan Arenal. It was absolutely beautiful. In fact, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. You can actually see the volcano erupting and spitting out the red hot lava. I highly recommend going to see the volcano at night. There are hot springs nearby and you can sit in the hot springs and watch the volcano erupt. This was one of my favorite things of my whole trip. It was so relaxing, and beautiful. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. If you go on a clear night you can watch the lava dripping down the side of mountain. This is one thing you have to look out for. Many people end up going on a foggy night and are not able to see anything. Check the weather before you go.

I love Costa Rica. This is the country, where anyone can find what to do. Adventure travellers have their full-scale opportunities, including volcano hikes, caverns, canopy, rafting, or canyoning. Preferring family style can stay in nice resorts near the ocean, wildlife lovers can find plenty in Carcavado or Tortugero, for example. Friendly people and completely safe environment. Heaven for tourists. Unfortunately, it is not so cheap any more as used to be. Americans, going there for retirement, significantly boosted real estate cost and overall prices. The only point that should be improved - roads. Everyone who drove from Arenal to Monteverde, will remember the road... Other than that - perfect place for vacation.

That sounds really nice. I will try to visit Arenal the next time I am over there. I live in Nicaragua but my husband has family living in Costa Rica so we get over there once or twice a year. I have seen many other sights there, but not Arenal. There are many volcanos in Nicaragua as well but I don't know if there are any hot springs. I will have to ask around and see.

That's nice that you get to go to costa rica so often. The last time I was there was in 2000.
