Do you think it is best to go to college right after graduation from high school, or wait a few years so you know what you want to study and are more serious?

I believe it is best to go right after school, especially if you aren't sure what you want to do. I have known many people that said they were going to take a year off because they were tired of school and needed a break/wanted to see the world, etc. 90% of them never went back to college or did after many many years (not just the one they had planned). I had thought of doing the same thing but my parents convinced me to go and I was glad. I didn't finish but I'm pretty sure if I had not gone right after high school I never would have gone at all.

I don't know that one is better than the other. But rather one is often easier than the other. Pros of going right after high school: 1)You still know how to study. 2)You'll be with others your age. 3)You don't have a family or other responsibilities that keep postponing your return. and 4)College will only get more expensive. Pros of waiting: 1)You're mature enough to take your classes seriously. 2)You've had a chance to get some life experiences under your belt and, hopefully, are more sure about what to study. and 3)You may have had a chance to save some money to put towards that huge bill you're presented with. Personally, I went right after high school and am glad I did. However, I intended to go back for my Master's Degree, but wanted to wait a year of two. It's been 7 years and I doubt I will ever have the chance to go again. It just seems as you get older, your life responsibilities make it difficult for you to go back.

if you could afford it, i'd suggest going to college immediately after graduation from high school, while you're still gaining momentum. the sooner you finish your studies, the better. finding a job with a degree in your hands would prove to be a lot easier.

I agree. good points. For me, at least, this made the most since. I can see how it can be easy to get out of th e momentum and loose your train of thought on your studies.

I think it's better to move on rather than waiting. The 1st term of the final grade is ideal time to think what you want to study. Waiting for a few years will only waste your time while you may miss the chance that you would probably love like scholarships, academical competitions etc. Regards!

It would be best to go right after high school in my opinion. The reason why is because if you take a year off then you may get kind of lazy and never go back. Another reason is because you may start to forget some of the basic stuff and end up having to retake those courses in college. It could really set you back.
