I think GNU is a decent OS, but it still has a way to go before it becomes user friendly like Windows. Linux is just a kernel for GNU. GNU is more stable and you have the source code for it, unlike Windows. However, I still prefer Windows. GNU is good if you like to install your software from the source code or want to know the deep underlinings of your computer. This is possible with Windows, but GNU it can be a tad bit easier in my experience.
