i don't think it's necessary to ban softdrinks in schools.. it hasn't really killed people before.. well, too much of anything can be very bad for anybody and coke/pepsi for that matter can be very addictive (but not like narcotics, LOL!) since younger people tend to drink more of it than water. some of the worst things that you can develop from drinking too much carbonated softdrinks like coke and pepsi is peptic ulcer, diabetes, chronic dehydration and mild hypertension (caffeine). other than that, i haven't heard of any case where coke had nuclear wastes in it or pepsi containing radioactive materials or anything of that sort.
the best thing to do would be proper education among students so they'd be warned of the conditions that they could get from too much coke. banning softdrinks in schools won't make everyone happy since drinking coke (other softdrinks for that matter) can be a pleasure too sometimes especially during feasts on certain occasions/celebrations.
