Does anyone here do swapping, penpalling or belong to any sites like postcrossing.com?

Postcrossing.com is a place for trading postcards. It's a great site. Check it out.

I have done a lot of swapping in the past. I have been penpalling for about 15 years now. I have stopped at this point b/c I am due to have baby #3 at any time. I have not had the time nor energy to keep up with it.

I stopped swapping in groups and now just do it very very very minimally as I just don't have any time with work and school. I've been penpalling about that long too. Congrats on your upcoming birth!

I'm surprised more people didn't answer this thread. I enjoy http://www.postcrossing.com and even made a blog to show some of the cards I've received from around the world. http://postcrossingwithzel.blogspot.com/ Whenever I see a sale on postcards I stock up. I do seem to get hooked up with a lot of postcrossers from Finland somehow.

Glad to know I'm not the only one getting a ton of cards from Finland! I like to stock up too when I see sales. Sometimes Borders puts boxed sets in the bargain section. It's rare but I buy a ton!

I do belong to a couple of swap groups where we swap stuff like journals, stickers and such; then I am a part of a couple of book swapgroups, such as Paperback swap, Book Mooch, anad Bookins; I have gotten some great books from these sources without paying a dime for them; I am also a part of a couple of swap groups that collect postcards as well; I came across Postcrossing via one of the groups I was in and I have gotten some real nice postcards from there. Most have been from Finland. I was surprised to get one from Brazil once. Canada twice, Spain a couple of times. When I started trading them again, I must have gotten them from all over the world except perhaps Africa. A lady from Austria that I swap with was kind to send me some from Kenya and the Seychelles Islands when she went last summer. Eternally grateful to her. Also, I am doing a post where I'm asking MyLotters worldwide here to send me a postcard, as well as if they want one from me, I can send too. So far I have gotten some real nice ones. I hope you guys here check it out and participate as well. Look forward to hearing from you.

I do bookswapping too - but on Bookcrossing.com. Have you ever checked that one out? I'm on postcrossing - have you checked out postcardx.net? I've met a lot of great people on there.

I have checked out Bookcrossing and did a trade there once, but a bit complicated to me; You can either drop a book somewhere, or make a trade with someone. I wasn't sure if you drop the book and then someone gets it; or were those the options. I get books through my swaps that come from there. I will however, check out that other postcard group. I like getting postcards; also check out my posting to get postcards from folks here at MyLot. hope you can participate.

I think he was being cute. I just got three cards in the mail - all from Finland... I can probably send out four new cards... I'm betting 3/4 are Finland...

We're not talking about wife swapping. We are talking about exchanging postcards with people in other countries. Or were you just being cute? And wouldn't you know it; one of my postcards expired and so I got a new listing. And guess were it's going? Finland! Finland strikes again.

i would like to swapping but in the other hand i can't stand the ideia of share my wife. because of that i won't swap. about penpalling i think it is great. i dont have a penpal. nowadays we can penpalling in msn and stuff like that. Postcrossing its a great project created by Paulo (a friend of mine :D) and its a very great project, you can go there and register then you ask for and random address and then send a nice postcard, once you'r registered and sent at least one postcards your adress will be available randomly to those who request addresses. there are also a few other things you can see in postcrossing.com its a very nice project that everyone should stand for.

I have done a lot of Swapping of Friendship Books, Slams, Stickers, Post Cards, etc. and used to do a lot of it via Yahoo groups, but anymore do not have the time to do so. I still enjoy Swapping Stickers and postcards, and need to find some people to do some more of this with. I also Swapped Magnets before as well so I could get Magnets from all over the world as well also.

I used to swap beanie babies through Up4Trade (until they closed down a few years ago). Now I swap books through paperbackswap.com and love it. I read a lot, so this site was perfect for me. I've never swapped postcards, and I don't have a desire to do that at this stage in my life (retiring this year).

This is actually really interesting. I'll have to send my wife to that website as she likes to do things like that. I do know that she goes to PostSecret every week to look at that blog, as she's always very interested in it. I'm glad to know there's things like this out there!!

I joined Postcrossing and I have to admit that official postcards are quite slow. I joined the forum recently and I get addicted with swap, round robin and tagging of postcards and items from the forum members.

I've done both craft swaps, pen pals, and bath and body item swaps. I really enjoy it because swapping is a great way to both get to nkow other people, or help people find items that they want in exchange for ones that they don't want. Some of my favorite things have come from swaps when I've wanted to say, get rid of a soap I was given and didn't like, or just wanted to try some candy from England. It's amazing how generous some people can be and swaps can often give you a great snap shot of other people's lives. I know there is some risk involved because I know plenty of people who have had swap partners flake out on them, but it can feel really good when you send someone a package or letter and it makes them really happy. I'm really glad I saw this discussion because I have lost touch with my pen pals. One got married and moved and forgot to send me her new address, and the other just stopped writing. I think I will have to check out this website and hopefully make a new friend or two.

i do swapping and penpalling and am a member of postcrossing.com :) i tend to swap mainly within my country though, as we have postage prepaid satchels that we can use to send exercise book slams (which are cheap during back-to-school time). i also love decos, but don't have any time for the rest. i collect postcards and so far have had a great experience with postcrossing (apart from the abundance of Finnish cards) and i collect many other things as well, ranging from stamps to My Little Ponies :)
