YAHOO LOTTERY

Last week I received an e-mail from Yahoo saying they had made an agreement with my Internet provider (they did not specify the name) and now as a member of this new affiliate I would have my name put into a lottery. Should I win, they said, I would receive an e-mail from Yahoo. A few days later I received an e-mail from Yahoo saying I won 500 dollars and, to get my money, I had to click on the link in their e-mail. This link was grey and did not work, so I tried to manually write this very unusual and long address, but no page was displaying. I then tried to have a look at the Yahoo site (www.yahoo.com), but I could not find anything about lotteries. I replied to their e-mail, but a few minutes later it came back as it was not possible to deliver it. When I received the e-mail back I noticed that the link was green, so I decided to try again. As soon as i did this, my anti-virus program sent me a pop-up warning saying they had detected a potential unwanted change to my computer!!! I blocked this change and I stopped trying with this link. I then noticed that the e-mail I had received from Yahoo about my prize wasn't address to me but to another Yahoo e-mail address, so I sent a message to this address too asking what was going on. Also this message came back and it could not be delivered. I think this is very strange and I posted an ad on www.scamclub.com explaining what happened. Now I do the same here on Mylot to see if there is someone who experienced the same.

hello, i receieved this kind of email as well. The yahoo lottery thing which is really very tempting, imagine 500$ for no reason at all, but then again there's a catch, you need to pay the premuim membership and after paying that they're going to deposit the money in just 3 mins. sounds too good to be real really, i tried to follow the link to pay for this membership to get access with the money and thankfully it wasnt successful cos they're using the e-gold and i only got paypal. so i emailed them to ask what am i going to do cos of this prob but i got the email back saying that the address is not found. Then this time i ask help from my network provider to check if this email is real, so they checked it and confirmed that it was a hoax mail. Im just really glad that i didnt wasted my money over this scam mail. This is a lesson to learn to check and verify emails the same as this before paying any fees to avail the prize.

Tka for your answer, at least now I know it also happened to other people. Anyway I did not even get to where it says you have to pay for the membership. I also sent an e-mail to my Internet provider asking if it was true they had an agreement with Yahoo and I'm waiting for their answer. Tks again
