Has anyone else dealt with family members who have died directly from the effects of substance abuse? I lost my mother to a heart attack when I was 8. Most of my memories of her involved beer and/or hospitals. I have a brother who is brain dead from too many years of alcohol and heroin abuse. He has been brain dead since 1993. I’m not too tore up about him cause we are 20 years apart in age and the last time I saw him was back in 1987 I think, never really knew him but he is still my brother. And last but not least I ended my relationship with my father about 8 years ago because of his abuse of alcohol and the monster it turned him into. Personally I might drink 2-3 times a year and hard core drugs, not in this lifetime!
