When is the appropriate time to have your baby shower ?

I personally had my shower early to get it out of the way an dto avoid being cranky and hot in August, but many people thought it was strange to have my shower so early. Should i have waited? (had my shower on may 28th, my son was born august 3rd but was due august 17th)

I think it's a good idea to have it early. You are more prepared for what you need to but before the baby comes. You never know if they are going to show up early or not and surprise!!!! you don't have anything ready. I had mine about a month before I had my daughter and wished it had been earlier.
