Did you have a hobby which you stopped somehow? I write poems.. used to write much more. But for some reason or other havent been writing as often lately and have been feeling some hollowness. Poetry atleast as I perseive it, is not something that you jsut sit and say ok I am going to write it. So, it does not happen unless that perfect modod comes by. It has not been happening to me lately. Please share your experiecnes with your hobbies.

I used to paint in my young age. I dont like it anymore. Somehow it sounds childish to me to paint. I know other people dont think so But I dont liek ti anymore. So I have stopped it now.

I had to give up on skateboarding, mainly because I was getting hurt too much! Now I surf alot more than I have in the past... As for poetry you have to be inspired to write about a topic. If you don't like your topic, you'll never be satisfied with the end product... Here's a poem I wrote rescently that's still in progress, maybe it will motivate you... You Can't Hide I hold no prejudice I retain no opinion about your wealth or power You can’t screen, retreat, recover, or recoil from me As you keep passing me by You can’t help or contribute to me I outlast the elements as I hold no sentiments I wait for history to mold me Too many people have wasted me Now they have come face to face with me While many try to forget about me I will catch up to you Many have treated me unfaithfully Now they are enduring me painfully Who am I? I am TIME

I think the secret to poetry is to let your mind free on a subject for a period of time and catch the phrases until they start to make sense in your mind then assemble them viola poem!!

Thanks for responding. I dont think there is any secret of poetry. It should not be made mechanical. it should be let to flow. The phrases will come if they have to. The thoughts have to wander.

You have kind of expressed similar experiences with me. I can understand it myself having gone through it myself.

Well what about hobbies this is indeed a pleasant subject for me to talk about. I love my free time. I am loving it because i have enough for everything i want to do. Can't imagine what this world would have done without having it's hobbies. There are a lot of them and the most common one are the one in which you get a lot involved and you like what you are doing. My personal favorite hobbies are the collecting of stamps, collecting old coins, playing football, playing tennis table and a lot of other hobbies more and more interesting. It is good for a person to have a hobby because it can develop certain skills which surely will help in the life. Everyone should have a hobby at least and give it the importance it has. Hobbies are great!! What can i advice you.. if you don't have a hobby make one!

When I was a teenager I loved to draw - particularly horses. Haven't drawn anything in years. I also used to love to write. Haven't done that in years either. Guess I got busy with life and raising kids. Maybe one of these days I'll get back to it?

Thank you for your response Manu. How many stamps do you have at present? Do you count them every once in a while?

i used to sketch since i was a kid, few years back i even completed 1 year course in 2D and 3D animation and i used to sketch alot... BUt now, unfortunately i stopped this activity, days are becoming very fast with no time for myself. But i sometimes i sketch in a piece of paper or in my diary or whatever on which i can sketch... but that graceful flow of my hand is absent now :-(
