What do I do about us?

I need some advice! My friend has wanted to date me for years, but I never gave him the time of day because he has a lot of maturing to do and recently broke up with a woman who's pregnant with his baby. I do have deep feelings for him, but should I follow my heart or my head? Help me out here! I am so confused!
