WHAT IS YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION OF THAT WORD "LOL"?

hi there guys, im just kinda new here, and there's a word that got into my attention... that word LOL? what does it mean? ummm, is it something that's funny? or its just like an expression of exaggeration and alike? so sorry i have to bring this up, im just a curious. thanks^_^

Are you being serious? You are a kid growing up in the age of computers and you don't know the every-day slang? LOL = Laugh Out Loud.

You may also see at some time the letters LMAO which means "laughing my a## off" this will be used when a topic is extremely funny, or to be sarcastic. Another is ROFL which means "rolling on floor laughing" All these little short letters is what they use in instant messaging. At one time during the very early years of internet there was onlt text and no graphics, so we had no smilies to portray emotion, so people used the letters and symbols to do it for them, they are still widely used today but most internet users rely on the smiley icons instead.
