is it wise....

a cellphone of their own - they've ben asking for it for the longest time... shuld we give in?

to let my 2 boys, aged 9 and 10, to have their own mobile phones? are they too young for it or is it okay?

Personally, I think they're way too young. At least, I'd never let my 9-10 year old son have his own phone. Most kids that age don't the responsibility or need to be carrying a phone around. If you'd like one specifically for emergencies, then I would also consider looking into the Firefly.

firefly isn't available where i'm from and the reasons you stated also came to my mind. nothing's definite yet, though. we still have a lot of thinking to do. thanks for your input.

My son is 11 he has had a firefly cell phone since he was 10. It a cell phone specifacly for kids. It dosnt have any numbers on it at all. You as the parent have to program it for your child. It has an address book that you program the most important numbers into for your child. Hope this helps.

the thing is, we don't have firefly here. yes, i saw that at walmart.com,i think and they'd have loved that but they're just inaccesible to us. thanks for the suggestion, though!

yeah! we really have to weigh the pros and cons yet. my biggest worry is if they become victims to holduppers (cellphone holduppers are rampant here) and i don't want them to go thru the trauma.

i personally think there kinda young by there age. but you know them by there maturity and thats what counts
