Field Guides are trained to accompany tourists in the bush and to interpret nature in a meaningful and interesting manner. In order to become a game ranger / field guide prospective guides are required by law to complete and pass a relevant Field Guide Course. During a field trip you are a guide, teacher, friend, game warden, doctor, storyteller and sometimes cook for your guests! Each day in the bush is filled with new surprises and experiences. You will learn from these experiences, meet interesting people and see things others have to pay thousands for! What do you need to be a guide? First of all you have to be passionate about nature and have a genuine interest in wildlife. You have to be observant and have a natural curiosity about everything in nature. Secondly you need a positive attitude. Thirdly you will have to want to broaden you language skills in English and Afrikaans. It is always good to address tourists in their language of preference. Fourthly – you need a valid driving license and fifthly you will have to complete a valid first aid course. Lastly you have to become a legal guide by successfully completing your course and be assessed on the THETA - NQF system. Want to know more? Send me a post or keep an eye out for my posts.

That sounds very exciting! If I were childless and/or unmarried it would be perfect for me. Thanks for sharing : )
