Gift cards are great, but beware before you purchase one. Scammers are copying down the number and waiting until you activate the number then go online and use the funds up. Some stores also charges monthly fee if you donot use the card up. If your card were $50.00, they deduct in some cases a $1.00 or $2.00 amount. Have you heard about any of these scams? Have these scams change your mind about purchasing gift cards this year?

I was not aware of this scam. I assume to be able to do this the scammers would have to have access to the original vouchers, so wouldn't that mean that they would be sales staff at the store that the cards were bought. If this is true then it would be better to get the sort of cards that don't have numbers but just a magnetic strip.
