The only thing that pops in my head right now is the ice storms we have had. I think we've had two (that I can remember, there might have been more when I was littler). The first was in '96 - December. Then the next was sometime in 2000 period cause we were in this house. 1996 one was worst though. Everyone lost power for quite awhile & there were trees and branches down everywhere

We had an ice storm hit on Christmas Day in 2000 here. It was awful too. Like you said - no power and trees and branches down. Some people were without power for over a month. It was really cold and miserable.

the worst weather I ever experienced was when we had the blizzard of 96, we got 44 inches of snow in a matter of 12 hours, but it was that heavy wet snow, and it was so cold for weeks after that it never melted and I think with in days after we got another snow storm that laid another 6 inches on top of it.

I've never seen snow anywhere near that deep. I think the deepest snow I've ever seen here was around a foot and a half!

Winter with snow and ice. I can't stand either one and I hate going out in it.

It was one winter while my children were still in elementary school. The week before Christmas the temps got well below zero with windchills like -20 or -30. There was a heavy snow cover, and the high winds kept whipping the snow around. Even though we only lived 4 blocks from the school, I loaded up my kids and the neighbor kids and took them to school every morning and picked them up again at night. I was afraid of them freezing something, it was that cold. On the last day before Christmas break, the day when every elementary classroom in the country has a party and presents, they gave up and called off school. My kids were so mad, and no amount of reasoning could make them understand why they couldn't go to school and have their parties. Since most years are like this one, in the 40s with no snow, that was a really unusual year.

Not that is cold and miserable! I can't even begin to imagine! I live in the South where if it snows they close schools very first thing!

lol when I lived in Michigan and we had a White out. I remember when we first moved there that I was shoveling the driveway and I slipped and busted my butt. :-( OUCH!
